Valentino Fall 2014 Ready-T-Wear

This show cycled through many of the ideas they've brought to the house, much of them with a mod sixties flavor this season: the shirt-collar dresses, the embroidered tulle gowns, and capes of all kinds—in lace, in leather, in drapey silk crepe, and in versatile double-face cashmere that could be pinned back to create an alternate look.

Elie Saab Fall 2014 Ready-To-Wear

Elie Saab had a good night at the Oscars. No less a superstar than Angelina Jolie wore an haute couture dress by the Lebanese designer. Coming off a coup like that, it's no surprise he was inclined to focus on his eveningwear formula at his ready-to-wear presentation today.

Saab called the collection Dark Opulence and said he was looking at the work of Mark Rothko. The artist's Color Field paintings made up a template of sorts for the designer's ombré effects. Bands of merlot and black colored a long strapless gown cut from ribbed silk, and a deep stripe of black bisected a pale rose tunic in the same material. These graphic looks felt new for Saab, who tends to prefer monochromatic color schemes. The dégradé velvets and chiffons of a long-sleeve minidress and a halter-neck evening number were less unexpected but quite pretty in a low-key way.

Saab's print this season, a painterly floral with brushstrokes for petals, He saved the opulence for the end, closing with a group of burgundy, emerald green, or black dresses densely embroidered with paillettes. The black one with the thigh-high slit had Jolie's name all over it.

SHE STOLE MY LOOK

Joanna Krupa and Mel B attend post-Oscar bashes in near identical dresses by same designer

They are both reality television stars, but now that isn't the only common thread between the two.
Joanna Krupa, 34, and Mel B, 38, donned similar dresses by designer Walter Mendez at different post-Oscar parties on Sunday. Joanna attended the Fame & Philanthropy Party in Beverly Hills while Mel B was at Elton John's 22nd AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing And After Party.

Mel B's dress showed a bit more skin than Joanna's as it featured cut outs in the outside thigh area.
Joanna's dress extenuated her slender features and had less sequins around the waist area of the grey dress.
She wore her blonde locks in an exquisite updo and had natural complementary make-up on her face while Mel B let her hair flow down.

Givenchy Fall 2014 Ready-To-Wear

Its Paris Fashion Week baby o_*

The man who gave the world the designer sweatshirt has grown up. This was a very womanly, very French collection, and it was just as convincing as when Riccardo Tisci was looking at the street. "This time it was about celebrating elegance and bon ton," he said backstage. "My own bon ton, of course."

The trio of dresses that opened the Givenchy show cued the new mood: softly printed, just sheer enough to offer a glimpse of a bra underneath, and worn with black stockings and strappy heels. Tisci's ladies were not quite models of decorum, as would become clear as the show progressed and the animal prints got bolder and more colorful.

Sarah Jessica Parker Covers Harper’s Bazaar UK, Reflects On How Reality TV Has Made Women More Catty

For the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, the actress and cover girl shared why so many of us cling to her character of the hit HBO series Sex and the City, saying:

“She was a really good friend. That’s why they can forgive those very apparent flaws and selfishness. She was a deeply devoted friend, and I think women really respond to that kind of connection. I think we all want it, we all work towards having it, and we’re not always the very best friends we can be… It’s kind of surprising to say, but in a way [Sex and the City] was a more innocent time. I think so much reality television – and the women that dominate culture today – are pretty unfriendly towards one another. They use language that’s really objectionable and cruel and not supportive.  I like to remember that Carrie and the other woman in Sex and the City were really nice to each other.”

Another thing we all loved about Carrie was her shoe collection. The girl loved her Manolos, a similarity she and SJP share. Recently, she added the title of shoe designer to her portfolio after collaborating on a Nordstrom line with George Malkemus, the CEO of Manolo Blahnik himself:

Having played this character for so long who had such a love of shoes – and, you know, some might say a reckless desire to have them –

I just thought, ‘This is what I’d really like to do now.’ I called him and said, ‘I have this crazy idea…’”

Because of course she has his phone number saved in her phone, and on speed dial. Despite her status as a style icon, she admitted to the mag that she never really wanted to be famous. Before becoming a Manhattanite and finding Hollywood stardom, Sarah had much more humbler beginnings. She grew up in Nelsonville, an Ohio mining town, with eight siblings and half siblings:

“My mother was chic but we were broke. Inside the house was chaos and madness… I appreciate everything. I think that there are probably a lot of people that don’t care as much, and it all still works for them.  But I can’t have my name on something and not be totally involved. It can often make things really hard but that’s simply the way I have to be.”
