Iman Stuns On The Cover Of Scene Magazine

At 58-years-old, Iman still knows how to slay a photoshoot and give the 20-somethings a run for their money. Shot by photographer Douglas Friedman, Iman is styled  in 70′s wear and a perfect fro. The living legend takes her natural place in front of the camera and reminds us who’s boss.

Still looking flawless at 58, gold jewelry accents her beauty as she dons navy blazers, crisp white shirts, and patterned jumpsuits. In the feature, Iman talks studying modeling, creating her own beauty line, dabbling in home decor and why she’ll never be too old to grow and learn as a businesswoman. Enjoy!

On studying photography, fashion and perfecting her modeling skills:
“I paid attention to details. I looked at old photographs. And I made sure that I had control over my image. I’ve always believed that images are a model’s currency. So I always wanted to have some control and have a say about my images. What I know is that photography and the business of images is a mirror in which we see ourselves—who we are and who we can be. Beauty is a powerful commodity, and its currency is identity.”

Her reason for creating a cosmetic line that caters to women of color:
“I’m the customer who was looking for cosmetic products that were suitable for my skin but weren’t available in the marketplace.”

On the bold and unique patterns infused in her IMAN Home Bed & Bath Collection:
“You can really see the journey from my background in fashion as I approached this collection as if it were a wardrobe for rooms…I believe that layering doesn’t only apply to fashion and jewelry; I played with patterns by layering ikat with medallions, stripes with animal prints to create rooms with an interesting mix of textures, patterns and visuals.”

Why she’s not ready to rest on her laurels as a living legend:
“I’m constantly evolving. Honey, you are never too old to learn a new trick.”
