POSE LIKE AN A-LISTER DROP A STONE IN YOUR PICTURES

Ever wondered why some people look so picture perfect even in the 'oddest' moments'? They have mastered the art of posing for the camera like an a-lister. The basis of any good pose is your starting posture, says portrait photographer Natasha Pszenicki. 'Think tall and long as if a thread is running through your center and out through the top of your head and is tugging you upwards,' Former model turned celebrity hair and make-up artist Julia Bolino agrees, she says 'Telling people to stand tall and poised like a professional ballerina might sound obvious, but you'd be surprised how many women slouch. 'It's as though they are trying to make themselves appear smaller by hunching over but actually, viewed through a lens, this makes them look more blocky.

Wrong way to take look at the camera

KEEP YOUR CHIN UP

The smiling advice from experts is don't do anything to make your eyes close. Always look at the camera for half a second longer than you should; people under-estimate how long it takes for a photo to be taken, and that's when those dreadful, cock-eyed, drunk-looking pictures start creeping in.

Bring your chin away from your neck, or you will end up with a double chin, however thin you are. For the perfect smile move your chin away from your neck and turn your head away from the camera a little, while bringing the eyes back to the lens.

Right way

WHITTLE YOUR WAIST

Wrong

A defensive pose, when suddenly faced with a camera, is to either fold your arms over your belly, or place your arms at your side - both of which will only add width to that part of your body you are desperate to hide. The trick is to act like you love it - the camera will love it back. Place one hand on your hip, This creates a gap to show off the definition of your waist. Then push your elbows back slightly, keeping that triangular gap as long and narrow as possible.'

This pose is a favorite with celebrities like Victoria Beckham, as it also has the effect of pushing the shoulders forward to create a hollow under the collarbone - that much coveted 'boniness'. Just be careful about exaggerating shoulder rotation

TRIM YOUR HIPS

If you're a little wider around the rump than you'd like, avoid standing square on. What you're looking to do here is to create an S-bend in the body that makes hips look curvy but in proportion. Cross one thigh in front of the other, then place all your weight on your back foot. Now kick the front heel out slightly. Keeping your
hands asymmetrical gives the illusion of a longer line.  Two hands, held in an identical pose, on opposing sides of the body makes it appear wider. Also, don't press your hands into your hips. You will create a bulge.
