Agent Provocateur Ironically Women in the Kitchen in New Ad Campaign

Lingerie might be about being playful, but Agent Provocateur is flirting with stereotypes in its latest ads. For the cult-fave undergarment's Spring 2014 campaign, photographer Miles Aldridge shot model Hailey Clauson as a sexed up Stepford Housewife in a pristine, 1950s-inspired kitchen. As creative director Sarah Shotton emphasized, the idea was to toy with that ugly but often persistent notion that the "perfect" woman should be "a lady in the street and a wildcat in the bedroom."

The perfectly pastel setting doesn't just complement the aesthetic of the collection (pretty lace, ruffled aprons, and gingham) but also drives home the dystopian message of the campaign—"schizophrenic," as Shotton put it. Can we just say that we're relieved that we're at a point where we can view this kind of situation as ironic?
