Willow Smith is only 13 years old, and she is already more influential to the fashion world than some of us could ever dream of being, and if you don’t believe us, just ask Karl Lagerfeld.
Karl serves as the man behind Chanel’s muse for his latest photography feature in V Magazine, and the results did not disappoint. The magazine tapped the hair-whipping Willow to talk about everything from her personal style, to what 7th grade is like, and why she dropped out of starring in Annie on Broadway.
The best part of it all, she mixed her own style – more specifically pieces from her closet – with Chanel to get her enviable edge for this shoot. Take a look at her teenage perfection below.
On why she opted out of Annie:
“I just wanted to chill, and be at home, and decompress, and just find out what I wanna do and where I stand on this planet, with the little tiny place we have.[...]I just feel like I want to do it different than the world’s ready for.”
On her current state:
“I’m enjoying just being independent and doing my own thing.”
On her personal style:
“I can never tell what I’m gonna wear. I kind of just put on whatever feels right. Sometimes that’s Converse and a T-shirt, sometimes it’s Givenchy heels and leather pants.”
On meeting Karl Lagerfeld:
“[Karl] very, very friendly and open. I thought he was gonna be really mysterious, like peering over his glasses, evaluating. But he was just awesome. I don’t have words, because he’s such a huge icon.”
