Lena Dunham Lands Vogue’s February Cover
After much speculation, Lena Dunham has at long last reached the pinnacle of fashion acceptance: A Vogue cover. During the release of February issues, there was a strong glossy presence of her fellow GIRLS stars, but no Lena Dunham, and at long last, we now know why. She was being saved for the big leagues.
Lena’s cover shies away from the traditional Vogue Photoshopping high glamour in favor of a GIRLS-tailored shoot featuring the actress and writer in her kohl-rimmed eye element, wearing a distressed expression and a red and white polka dot woven dress.
Shot by Annie Leibovitz, the accompanying editorial also stars her fake life boyfriend, Adam Driver, and her real life rescue pooch, Lamby (who wore his own fur for the shoot) and it proves one point many were skeptical about: Lena Dunham cleans up well.
Lena dipped out of Hannah’s “left in a rush” frumpy ‘fits and into the luxury of brands like Celine, Prada, Rochas and the like for a shoot that was unapologetically New York: featuring pigeons, subways, junky hotel rooms and pedestrians on the go. Check out Lena’s Vogue transformation below.
